1)

The Lacoste brand was founded in 1933 by Rene Lacoste, a famous French tennis player Rene Lacoste and fashion designer Robert George. Rene Lacoste was nicknamed "The Crocodile" because of his tenacity on the court, and this is how the brand's logo became the famous green crocodile.

It was André Gillier who invented the mesh that made the brand famous.

After his sports career, Lacoste decided to venture into fashion by creating a line of stylish and comfortable sportswear for men and women. His first creation was the famous Lacoste polo shirt, where he had the logo embroidered. The logo quickly became a symbol of stylish sports fashion.

2)

The famous Lacoste polo shirt made its first appearance at the 1926 US Open tournament, where René Lacoste was considered the favorite, he played (and won) wearing a characteristic short-sleeved polo shirt, with a few buttons and a collar. T he world of tennis had a pre-defined dress code, Lacoste broke the codes by imposing his style.

The company's flagship product was the white polo shirt, made of petit pique jersey cotton (the same fabric as the athlete's clothes in 1926).

Lacoste began by producing pique tennis shirts, which were at the time a stylish and comfortable alternative to the traditional cotton shirts worn by tennis players. The brand quickly gained popularity among professional tennis players, as well as the general public.

This emblem was then embroidered on the shirts and blazers that René wore in all his appearances.

3)

In the 1950s, the brand diversified to include men's and women's sports and leisurewear, as well as accessories. The brand became synonymous with casual, elegant style, with a sporty aesthetic and an iconic crocodile logo.

In 1952, he entered into a partnership with the Izod company and worked until the early 80s in the United States under the name Izod Lacoste. Then the brand began to be known under the abbreviated name – Lacoste , which we know to this day.

The Lacoste polo shirt was made of breathable cotton and was available in different colors, but always with the iconic crocodile logo embroidered on the chest. The crocodile was inspired by Lacoste's nickname and has become a symbol of the brand, associated with elegance and timeless style.

4)

Today, Lacoste is an international fashion brand, known for its classic, casual style, as well as its high quality and craftsmanship. Over the decades, Lacoste has become a global brand, with boutiques around the world and a strong presence in the fashion industry. The brand continues to offer high-quality clothing and accessories for sports and style lovers, while maintaining the legacy of its founder and his connection to the world of tennis.
